Navigating uncertainty, creating connection.

The world is facing a period of heightened geopolitical uncertainty, and its ripple effects are being felt well beyond headlines. For businesses, this may mean travel disruption, rising airfares, and increased supply chain costs – pressures that inevitably influence decision making and confidence.

For those of us in the business events sector, this is not unfamiliar territory. The industry has weathered major disruption before, and each time it has reinforced the importance of agility, collaboration and long term thinking. Events don’t simply pause during uncertainty; they evolve.

In this context, New Zealand continues to stand out. Our reputation as a safe, stable and welcoming destination is more important than ever, providing reassurance to international organisers and delegates alike. That confidence is translating into tangible momentum.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to welcome 28 international conferences among our 200 events projected over the coming year – an increase of global conventions on the previous year and a clear signal of renewed confidence in face to face connection. Each event brings more than delegates; it brings ideas, innovation and meaningful economic impact for Christchurch and our wider region.

Business events play a vital role in knowledge exchange, trade and global relationships. At a time when the world feels increasingly complex, conferences create space for dialogue, collaboration and progress.

While global uncertainty remains, our focus is firmly on what we can control: delivering world class experiences, remaining responsive to change, and continuing to grow. The outlook is encouraging, and Christchurch is well placed to be part of the next chapter.
