Purr-fect style and comfort: The Purrfect Ride

Pulling up in a Jag has been the perfect entrance for celebs, romantics, spies, and classic car connoisseurs for decades.

In fact, that purr of the V8 motor, almost cat-like, has been a statement on the roads for 100 years – 2022 marks the Jaguar’s centenary. From a James Bond car chase in No Time to Die, to owners such as Queen Elizabeth and many a rock star, Jags are like royalty.

At The Purrfect Ride, a new Canterbury limousine service, Jags make up the fleet of five.

Owners Heather-Leigh Cumming and Allen Cross (pictured bottom right) say Jaguars are such a smooth ride you don’t feel the engine rev at the lights. They have also made a comeback into racing.

The couple’s models span four decades and can be spotted about town with the silver Jaguar emblem on the bonnet in pouncing pose, known as the leaper.

Deciding to name them after flowers, their 1974 Chocolate Daisy, is rich and racy. For something blue, there is the 1988 Blue Bell. Smart in white is 2002 Ben Ben – with extra stretch, big doors to accommodate bridal gowns, and privacy windows.

Also in white are the sleek 1974 Margarita, and 1973 Lilly – she has a roar to her, and sheepskin seats. Jags are the perfect ride from stag nights to mid-winter Christmas functions.

“We get creative with clients and treat them like family,” says Heather-Leigh. “People can have a whole experience, think drinks and chocolate-dipped strawberries during wedding photo shoots or during the ride to the school ball. After our drives to Methven you climb from a warm car into hot pools, and we will shout the massage. We work in with local companies such as Alice in Putterland mini golf. And giving back to the community is especially important. Making memories is the key,” she adds. “It could be a Sunday drive for a Grandad who used to own one. It is never too cold to be taken out in a Jag and relax like a cat!”

Their own felines have even been spied having a posh catnap on the dashboard – all engines purring.

If you want to purr like a kitten or roar like a lion, book a trip in one of the Jaguars.
