Outstanding aesthetics: Farrell Construction
The mark of a great project is keeping build standards high while creating a product that pleases the eye and works in harmony with its surroundings, when the pressure is on.
Nobody looks at a new build with a more critical eye than the existing inhabitants of its neighbourhood, with both their quality of life and own home values to protect.
Further, the thoroughfares around Hagley Park support both high value housing and arterial routes.
The result was tens of thousands of judgemental pairs of eyes on the Aria Apartments, 27 Carlton Mill Road, opposite iconic Little Hagley. But there was no need for apprehension; the aesthetics of the 11-unit build are outstanding.
The combination of red-pink Purple Heart timber, black roof, off-white walls, gable and peaked roof make for cohesive exterior. Farrell Construction’s Project Manager Johnny Clark says “we used a robust style of construction that is designed to last. Concrete panels and floor are underpinned with a massive foundation, while timber is used through the middle to lighten the load.”
Four smaller ground floor apartments and carport parking are joined by seven duplex
units above.
“They all have a beautiful finish, but my favourites are two upper apartments, one under the gable projection and the other at the Carlton Mill Road end which features a pair of balconies,” he adds.
