One for the road: Milton St Substation

Christchurch’s newest mobile bar truck is enroute. This ultra-rare 1969 Nissan Patrol travelled from the West Coast to Ōtautahi to continue its long working history.

Clark Mauger from Milton St Substation sought out the genius behind some of Aotearoa’s best bar truck restorations, Flaxton Iron (led by Glen O’Neill), to spruce it up for its new job.

“We’ve named the bar truck the Municipal Entertainment Department (MED) as a play on the substation’s origins as a Municipal Electricity Department,” Clark adds.

“The MED bar truck will be an important part of Christchurch’s vibrant hospitality scene.

Venue manager Alex Balchin’s goal with this exciting new addition to the event industry is “bringing world-class drinks and service to events, making our packages affordable and a focus on offering locally produced and New Zealand products.”

The bar truck will soon be hitting the road and will be available for hire at any Milton St Substation venue hire. An epic event needs an epic bar.
