One coffee closer to home: The Barkery

With over 38,000 registered dogs in Christchurch, a group of dog-devotees saw there was a real need for more local dog-friendly venues.

The Barkery is a 100 percent dog-friendly café and community space that offers fab food, events and activities for people and their pups.

Situated in the Red Zone, the mission statement behind this social enterprise is to help abandoned dogs find forever homes.

Purchasing one cup of coffee directly contributes to helping a dog find a home, with 10 percent of profits donated to Dogwatch, Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue and Greyhounds as Pets NZ. Dogs can be adopted through Dogwatch, Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue and Greyhounds as Pets.
