Mike Pero’s protein-packed brekky bowl
Entrepreneur, businessman, and family man Mike Pero took his cholesterol into his own hands after a heart health scare. He eats clean and with purpose from Monday to Friday, sharing one of his favourite ‘ritual’ recipes – this chia protein breakfast bowl.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 dessert spoons chia seeds
- 1 tsp pumpkin seeds
- 1 tsp flax seeds
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 dessert spoon extra virgin olive oil
- 200ml warm water
- 3 dessert spoons ‘Pure’ (whey) protein powder
- 150g Greek yoghurt
- Optional: additional seeds or nuts of your choice
- Toppings, to taste: almond slivers, coconut flakes, blueberries, raspberries or fruit of choice, 1 tsp honey to drizzle
METHOD
- Mix all ingredients together, except for toppings. Pop in the fridge for at least two hours, or overnight.
- Remove from the fridge, add your selection of toppings, drizzle with honey, and enjoy.
Mike’s tip: Start each day with a warm lemon honey water, and don’t have anything else for around half an hour to help cleanse the body.
