Mike Pero’s protein-packed brekky bowl

Entrepreneur, businessman, and family man Mike Pero took his cholesterol into his own hands after a heart health scare. He eats clean and with purpose from Monday to Friday, sharing one of his favourite ‘ritual’ recipes – this chia protein breakfast bowl.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 dessert spoons chia seeds
  • 1 tsp pumpkin seeds
  • 1 tsp flax seeds
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 dessert spoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 200ml warm water
  • 3 dessert spoons ‘Pure’ (whey) protein powder
  • 150g Greek yoghurt
  • Optional: additional seeds or nuts of your choice
  • Toppings, to taste: almond slivers, coconut flakes, blueberries, raspberries or fruit of choice, 1 tsp honey to drizzle

METHOD

  1. Mix all ingredients together, except for toppings. Pop in the fridge for at least two hours, or overnight.
  2. Remove from the fridge, add your selection of toppings, drizzle with honey, and enjoy.

Mike’s tip: Start each day with a warm lemon honey water, and don’t have anything else for around half an hour to help cleanse the body.
