Luxury Powerhouse

Audi’s current SQ7 is quickly becoming hot property for those hankering for a new seven-seater, luxury performance SUV. We had a play with one of four brand new variants now at Christchurch European.

Thanks to a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 mated to an eight-speed automatic box, essentially what you find in the hot RS6 wagon, power is rated at 372kW. Inside there is an overwhelming ambience of high grade fit and finish. The Audi Virtual Cockpit is very slick and intuitive. You also get all the fruit you would expect from a vehicle of this calibre.

Get moving and the torque from that 4.0L TSFI V8 is immense. It also certainly doesn’t hang around. If you switch over to Dynamic mode, the ride height of this sporting leviathan hunkers down and amazingly, can eat up the bends with minimal body roll. The sports exhaust also adds presence.
It gives an epic bellowing soundtrack which you can easily dial down when on a motorway cruise. In fact, the motorway miles are where the SQ7 really comes into its own. One can devour the distances easily while seated in leather clad comfort with next to nothing heard from the outside world.
What we have here really is a powerhouse of a luxury SUV.
