Lending a hand: Ricoh

Giving back to the community is an important part of business these days. One company lending a helping hand with projects such as its annual Big Green Day Out and support of various other charitable organisations is Ricoh Christchurch.

From mentoring young people through to digging holes for trees, the team at Ricoh locally and nationally puts its support behind a wide range of charitable organisations.

These include (but are not limited to) Barnardos, The Fred Hollows Foundation, Tear Fund, Te Akatea, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, raising and donating thousands of much-needed funding year after year.

Ricoh is also a company committed to the environment and actively involved with planting thousands of urban native trees through its annual
Big Green Day Out.

Duane Smithson, Christchurch branch manager, says staff volunteer their time, don gumboots, pick up spades and plant trees to help shape and beautify various areas in and around Christchurch.

Ricoh helps plant thousands of native trees annually, throughout New Zealand. The environment and sustainability are among the company’s core values and it practises what it preaches.

“A sustainable society is one that balances Planet (the environment), People (society) and Prosperity (our economic activities),” says Duane. “Whether that’s through improving our own business efficiencies, providing recycling for our machines and toners, supporting organisations championing green policies, or planting thousands of trees annually, we aim to lead businesses in being sustainable.”

The company’s support is not just for the wider community. A leading provider of office equipment, document solutions and product, software and service support, its business ethos is all about connecting people, processes and technology so that they can forward on focus.
AWARD-WINNING

Earlier this year Ricoh was ranked among the world’s best in its field when it was recognised as a “Clarivate Top 100 Global Innovators 2022”. This recognition is given to organisations that demonstrate consistent, above-the-bar innovation excellence and which sit at the very top of the global innovation ecosystem. It is the third time Ricoh has been selected for the list, also making the cut in 2012 and 2014.
