Jazzing it up
It’s no secret the new Honda Jazz makes no bones about being one of the top choices in the supermini segment. Now the fourth generation Jazz goes full electric, well almost. Enter the Jazz e:HEV Luxe.
Under the bonnet is sits the petrol Jazz’s 1.5L four-cylinder engine with the addition of two electric motors. Being the range topper, the e:HEV Luxe ticks every option box on Honda’s spec sheet which includes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Honda’s Sensing Safety Suite and heated seats. You also get the option of two-leather trim which in my opinion looks the business, as does the very clear and concise infotainment system.
On the move, the e:HEV does its utmost to champion electric silent running over petrol power, with the petrol engine acting purely as a generator to provide extra grunt while under hard acceleration, or to recharge the batteries. Honda claim a combined fuel figure of 2.8L/100km, but I was managing to average a snip over 4.0L/100km which was impressive.
Thanks to smaller A-pillars and a wide and deeply raked windscreen, you get a panoramic view of the road ahead. Plus, that funky two-spoke steering wheel feels good in your mitts.
The Honda Jazz just keeps getting better and better, and the e:HEV Luxe could very well be the one to go for.
