Heat-conscious hair styling

Heatless hair styling methods continue their stratospheric social media climb – yet how often do they fail to live up to the results we see online?

An inability to master a heatless hack can counteract its great benefit to hair health. Heat-conscious hair styling is next in the line of defence to minimising damage and preventing frizz. A well-rounded diet alongside the appropriate hair care will help maintain healthy locks so that when you do style with heat it’s bouncy and beautiful.

Prevent and protect: Invest in high-quality heat protectant formulas and sprays which create a barrier to shield your hair from harsh heat. Keratin treatments help to repair and strengthen hair bonds while encouraging hair growth.

Limit frequency: Resist the urge to use heat in your hair too often – experts recommend no more than once a week in your hair styling routine. Use tools such as thermal rollers to reduce blow-dry time and heat damage.

Temperature control: Apply the lowest possible effective temperature when styling your hair with a heated tool. Stylists often encourage no higher than 150°C – 160°C for fine hair, and 170°C – 190°C for thicker locks.
