Great food and entertainment: Kaiapoi Club

The success of a club often rests with what it offers its local community.

When it comes to hospitality, entertainment and social activities, the Kaiapoi Club has been an integral part of the Kaiapoi community for more than 130 years.

It’s not a club that rests on its laurels of established longevity. “We are always looking for new activities, for new ways to attract different age groups and families to the club,” says manager, Trudi Marshall.

Indeed, the variety of activities offered to club members is very wide. Billiards, cards, creative arts, darts, fishing, golf and indoor and outdoor bowls are just some of the many group pastimes available.

Of course, the club has bars and restaurants as well – all extremely popular, especially on Housie and Quiz evenings.

“We really want the local community to know that our Bistro restaurant is open to the public for meals,” says Trudi. “Diners do not have to be members, so it’s a great venue for family dining, both in the evening and at lunch time. There is an excellent range of both main and light meals to suit both adults and children.”

A feature of the Kaiapoi Club is the musical shows it offers. “We have put on Abba and Queen Tribute shows and are working on an Elton John one,” explains Trudi. “These shows have certainly brought in the crowds with people itching to have an enjoyable time post Covid-19,” she adds.
