Fun-loving flats
Flat summer shoes, a.k.a flatties, will be teetering high on the shoe-shopping list this summer. We look at the low down on this wardrobe favourite.
Flat mules offer open-healed summer comfort with closed-in-toe chic – and they’re oh-so-easy to slip on and off.
They add style to pants of any length and are out and about in calf skin, bold-coloured leopard, snake or floral prints, through to lattice leather in practical black.
Ballerina flats are taking to the stage again, this year they are also in the latest square-toed style and bright colours, although, beige is now a new neutral for all styles of shoes – demure and flattering.
Seashells are a summery addition to footwear; conjuring up a tropical island, they can be seen woven into straps and lace ends. Rope sandals, frayed weaves, toe-rings sandals and feminine ankle lace-ups all have holidays in mind.
Stretchy material straps, thick comfy soles and snappy velcro fastenings are light and practical for all kinds of feet.
This season’s jandal street styles have more structure and padding than the humble beach variety.
Sandals are becoming works of art in interesting, functional cut-away designs that are sure to get a second glance.
Mary Janes are back for a sweet and sassy look – designers such as Chanel have made them vogue again. They’re great paired with vintage dresses or wide pants, as are the latest in gorgeous pointy-toed flats that are so versatile to dress up or down.
Sporty sandals are even cool with dressy office pants, while designer white, and black, sneakers are still sporting their monochrome magic with all sorts of outfits – suitable for everyone, anywhere – and well rocked by celebrities.
Choose those with breathable leather lining and superior cushioning comfort, and feet will feel they are walking on a bouncy castle. Bound through the silly season in a pair of fun-loving flats
