The power of positive thinking
Optimism is one of my favourite words, and most of the time I’m a glass half full person. Actually I’m probably more of a glass three quarters full person, always looking on the bright side.
Sometimes it is hard to find a bright side, but recently I read something that helps me, and I hope will help you too. It was along the lines of putting pen to paper each day and writing down three things that you are grateful for. A simple thing to do, but if you stick to it for 21 days in a row, it is supposed to significantly increase your level of optimism.
Definitely worth a try, even if it’s only for a week or two. Once you do something seven times in a row it is supposed to have become a habit, so I figure that even a week will be good if it helps to put a brighter perspective on life.
One of the things I’m always grateful for is magazines, especially Metropol. In a world of media doom and gloom, negative stories and sensationalism, it’s wonderful to give a small piece of positivity and cheer to Christchurch every fortnight.
I’ve been editor for 10 months now and people I meet continually tell me that they love Metropol and enjoy reading it. Metropol is now in its 24th year of serving its readers and advertisers, and long may it continue. Now sit back, relax and enjoy the read.
