With a real-life flying car completing its first-ever test flight, and various car manufactures discussing the reality of taking to the skies, the UK-based Pentagon Motor Group decided to research actual costs for future ownership.

The company analysed the average sales cost of flying cars that are currently in production, how much it could set drivers back to gain a licence, and looked into the price of insuring, storing and fuelling their gravity-defying motor.

Cost breakdown:

1x Flying car $918,954.70
Flying licence $49,766.87
Insurance (per year) $23,835.42
Storage/parking $18,548.97
Fuel (approximate cost per year) $1,169.05
TOTAL $1,012,275.01

It’s safe to say that a worldwide flying car revolution might be a long way off yet.
