E-Dirtbike Fun: E-Mega Store

A whole lot of fun was the verdict when E-Mega Store manager and keen motorcross rider Jeremy Joseph took his first ride on a Talaria Sting MX. Here’s what he has to say…

I  basically grew up on dirt bikes and this love for motorcycles progressed into high-performance road and dirt bikes, where I raced KTM1290 Super Duke R’s and on dirt, I rode KTM 300 SX and 450XC-F. I was very sceptical as to who would want a bicycle with an electric motor. I said things like, ‘it has no power’, ‘it’s down on size’, ‘it makes no sense.’ The Talaria would prove me wrong.

At first, I was trying to ride it like a dirt bike and all my concerns were confirmed. But then I changed how I rode it and quickly realised it was not a dirt bike.

Once I changed my expectation and riding style, I began to have fun. A LOT of fun.

This is not a wheelie machine – there’s no power to blast out of corners or lift the front wheel to jump. It’s about momentum and carrying speed through corners, about progressive speed and exploration. Whenever I was on a dirt bike, you are completely focused on the riding, the speed and preparing the bike into and out of corners, hitting jumps perfectly, getting your foot out and powering through ruts. This was different.

It’s not about hanging on to the bike, it’s about being one with nature, it’s about exploration. Tight-packed twisty trails are where this bike shines and the lightweight frame gives it a very responsive ride and handling. I could see this bike being great for riders of all ages and riding capabilities. It’s not loud or scary, its silent and approachable. I could see my mates who had only ever ridden mountain bikes now joining me for a ride. I recommend trying one out – it will give you a totally new experience.

I am not saying I am trading in my dirt bikes, but I am saying at times this is what I want, and this is how I want to ride and for that reason,

I am going to get myself a Talaria Sting.
