Delicious daiquiris
Cocktail or mocktail, a daiquiri is an easy anytime pick-me-up, and a great way to indulge in summer fruits and berries.
Considered by many to be one of the six essential cocktails, a classic daiquiri comprises three ingredients only, being rum, fresh lime juice, and sugar. Adding fresh fruit or berries (or both) to the mix takes it up a notch, and whether stacked, shaken, or frozen, it’s a fabulous and versatile way to enjoy a refreshing drink. To turn yours into a mocktail, simply delete the alcohol content. To amp it up, add fruit and shake or make frozen.
INGREDIENTS
- 3 jiggers of white rum
- 1 jigger of lime (or lemon) juice
- 1 jigger of sugar syrup
- 2 jiggers fruit liqueur if desired
- Soda water
- Garnishes such as lime slices, strawberries, watermelon
Stacked: Fill a tall glass with ice cubes, and add remaining ingredients. Top with soda water for a less sweet version. Stir, garnish, and enjoy.
Shaken: Add the ingredients into your cocktail shaker, shake until well-chilled, then pour through a mesh strainer into a chilled coupe. Garnish, and enjoy.
Frozen: Place all ingredients into blender and whizz until a slushy consistency. Serve in a coupe or martini glass, and garnish.
