Cheers to the hop: House of Hop
Small-batch craft beers are extremely popular.
They are invariably more flavourful, with better texture and dimension than mass-produced beers.
In Geraldine, beer drinkers are being treated to the diversity of beer styles and taste profiles, produced at local brewery and restaurant, House of Hop, just outside of town on the road to Fairlie.
This new family-owned restaurant is open for general dining from Thursday – Sunday, can cater for large groups, and be hired for private events.
Craft beer devotees can sample an impressive range of beer that has been brewed onsite by their two brewers, along with delicious food developed to complement the craft beer range.
Ciders and wines are available for non-beer drinkers, and with an exceptional range, including West Coast IPA, stout, pale ale, Kolsch, wheat beer, and Kiwi Hazy IPA, on tap, it’s likely most guests will be tempted to try the brews.
Set menus are available for large groups and private events, and include top selling dishes from the full menu, including the House of Hop craft beer beef burger, and its Big Kahuna Hawaiian chicken burger.
House of Hop is also mobile. Its chill trailer is equipped with kegs and taps that enables the brewery to take its specialty beers to festivals and events, including private functions. See them at Brews on the Bay, Caroline Bay, Timaru, on 4 November, and the South Island Beer Festival in Christchurch on 25 November.
