Bloody Mary cocktail

Known for its tangy, savoury, spicy, and refreshing taste, the Bloody Mary is a classic recipe to have on hand for hosting this season.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt, or as needed
  • Ice cubes, as needed
  • 3/4 cup spicy tomato-vegetable juice mix
  • 45ml of vodka
  • 2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 dash of hot pepper sauce
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 celery stalk
    Tools needed – Cocktail shaker

    Optional garnishes

  • Garlic-stuffed green olives, threaded onto a toothpick
  • Pickles
  • Smoked bacon
  • Lemon or lime wedge

METHOD

  1. Pour the salt onto a plate. Wet the rim of the glass and press into the salt. Fill the glass with ice.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, add the vegetable juice cocktail, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, salt, and pepper. Cover and shake until the outside of the shaker has frosted. Taste and adjust spice and vodka to your preference.
  3. Strain the Bloody Mary into the prepared glass and garnish with celery stalk and anything else you’d like to add.

TIP: To make this a virgin Bloody Mary, simply forgo the vodka.
