Award winning entertainer’s home: Fortified Homes

Your happy place found, and held close to your heart. That is the alpha and the omega of the perfect family home.

T he judges of the Registered Master Builder House of the Year competition knew they had discovered the magic formula in this Lincoln new build (pictured). They handed it their Gold Award in the New Home under $500,000 category for the regional round of the competition.

Created by family-owned company Fortified Homes, the welcoming entrance is framed by an Eldorado stone-clad gabled porch. The main living area is filled with natural light. Flow to the kitchen and dining area continues with bifold doors leading to the alfresco dining and barbeque area.

A large sliding barn-style door leads you to the second living area, where the log fire with tiled hearth and stone-clad mantel invites curling up on the couch. As well as hosting a spacious walk-in robe and ensuite, the main bedroom features sliding doors to the covered spa area.

“My favourite thing about the house is the kitchen and alfresco area, it is an entertainers house, and works well for the owners,” says company owner Mike Kidd. The clients had a hard deadline pre-Christmas to move into the house which presented some challenges, with it being the silly season for everyone, “but we pulled it all together with materials and subtrades, and still achieved a perfect finish,” says Mike.

With more than 50 years of building experience within the team, Mike himself comes from a background in carpentry, completing his apprenticeship with his father. “I established Fortified Homes with the idea of providing local families with quality homes at affordable prices,” says Mike.

Mike particularly loves the first stage with clients, planning and getting to know their rough ideas. “We then move through finalising plans, building and handover. Actually, I love the entire process, it is about making the client’s visions come alive.”
