A toast to excellence: The Elmwood

Raise a toast to The Elmwood, a national finalist in the Hospitality NZ Awards for Excellence in both ‘Best Local’ and ‘Excellence in Gaming’ categories. As there were a record number of entries, this is in itself a cause for celebration for owners Marty and Naomi Fuller (pictured).

What does it take to achieve a finalist placing in the awards?

In the three years Marty and Naomi have owned The Elmwood, they’ve made a lot of changes to create the perfect vibe. The restaurant and bar are beautifully appointed; the garden bar heating makes an ideal year-round outdoor space; and the gaming and TAB areas are a safe environment for those wanting a flutter.

“We provide fabulous food and drink; the restaurant’s always busy; our catering for functions is second to none; and we deliver premium coverage of sports on large screens – we’ll have the All Blacks test games live so fans can get up close to the action,” Marty says.

That’s how to achieve recognition and a finalist placing.

Winners of the Hospitality NZ Awards are to be announced at a Gala Dinner in Auckland, September 9. Marty and Naomi plan to have ringside seats.

The Elmwood is at 1 Normans Road, Christchurch. Phone 03 355 5345.
