A fresh winter look: Made In The Shade

Twenty years ago, Sally, a busy wife, mother, and grandmother, discovered a local womenswear store that changed how she felt about clothes shopping, and it is all down to the owner, Alison Donn.

Made in the Shade is all about the service – Alison’s personal approach. “Before you know it, your wardrobe is sorted. It’s non-stress shopping – the way I like it,” Sally says.
Three brands that Sally favours are Lisette, and New Zealand labels Anne Mardell and Optimum.

“Lisette pants are comfortable and versatile – from walking, to dining out and travelling.

“Anne Mardell excels at mix and match coordination. They flatter the mature body, and suit shorter people too, which is good for me.”

Sally’s Optimum Knitwear lasts for several seasons and teams well with her Lisette pants. “Optimum is my treat.”

The Carly dress from New Zealand label Bittermoon is Sally’s rave purchase. “I’ve worn it to weddings, dinners, and cafes. Anywhere goes with a Carly. Yearly they bring out new and uplifting, playful fabrics.”

Sally sums up her loyalty to her favourite clothing store. “Made in the Shade’s speciality niche is in making women look fantastic. Wearing fun clothes makes you feel good. Alison knows this, and that is why she cares so much about her customers.”
