Leather love – Two Puppies
Wearable leather art handcrafted in Canterbury and inspired by the wild beauty of Aotearoa.
From cherished memories to native birds and wild landscapes, Two Puppies Leather Studio turns stories of Aotearoa into wearable leather art.
Founded by Sophia and Lynley, who met while studying Landscape Architecture at Lincoln University, the business began when Sophia lost her beloved dog Feifei in 2018 and turned to leathercraft as a way to preserve her dog’s memory. Using leather, she discovered she could sculpt and carve a pet’s portrait into something tangible to keep for years to come.
Lynley, too, is passionate about jewellery. Together they share a deep appreciation for Aotearoa’s landscapes, native flora, and wildlife. “New Zealand’s nature is a huge source of inspiration for us.
We naturally notice the forms, colours and little details in the environment around us,” Lynley says.

At Two Puppies Leather Studio, the pair combine leathercraft, jewellery and nature-inspired design to create sustainable wearable art from locally supplied, full-grain vegetable-tanned leather. “We don’t simply put a bird or plant on a piece of jewellery. We look at its shape, colours and character, then think about how those qualities can become something wearable.”
From earrings to their signature cuffs, each piece reimagines Aotearoa’s natural world, from the distinctive plumage of tūī and huia to the forms and colours of kōwhai and kawakawa. See the range at the website or get in touch to discuss a custom piece.
