3 things every side table needs
The power of three extends to the side table – but simplicity and practicality are key.
1. A focal or feature piece
This is the hero of your side table and provides the tall element, and is dictated by the surface area available. For a bigger side table, choose a soft-light lamp or well-manicured plant. A smaller surface calls for something chic and compact like a candle or miniature vase.
2. A surface anchor.
Depending on how practical your side table will be, some close-to-surface flat decor will balance things out. A decorative tray (circle or rectangle) is much easier to clean than a stack of books or your Dior Catwalk (speaking from unfortunate experience).
3. A practical addition
The humble coaster – a stack of these cute things will be your saving grace when you’re ready to relax on the couch with a hot cup of coffee and nowhere to put it. Aim to inject some colour or texture through your set of four.
