New venues and hotel developments are a sign that Christchurch is shining.

Christchurch is buzzing with summer energy. A lively events calendar continues to attract visitors and from cultural experiences to major events, Christchurch is truly coming into its own. It’s been wonderful to see the influx of cruise ship passengers and other tourists exploring our streets, cafes and attractions, adding to the vibrancy of the city centre and sharing in what makes this place so special.

With each season, Christchurch continues to evolve. New venues are opening, significant hotel developments are underway, and investment across the city is strengthening our reputation as a welcoming, modern and dynamic destination. We started the year strong with two significant international conventions, and a robust pipeline of global events, confirmed for 2026 and beyond, means there is much to be proud of.

At Te Pae Christchurch, it has been a privilege to play a role in this momentum. Hosting The Art of Banksy exhibition over summer was a highlight, and we extend a sincere thank you to everyone who visited the exhibition and café. Providing our community with access to some of the world’s most iconic street art, while celebrating the creativity of our own local talent, was incredibly rewarding.

International delegates continue to tell us that Christchurch feels purpose built for events. They love that it’s a walkable, vibrant and welcoming city that feels safe, is deeply connected to its culture and natural environment, and offers easy access to a revitalised city centre, complete with beautiful parks and gardens. As Christchurch continues to shine, the future looks bright.
