Tradition meets taste: The Bridge Prebbleton
One year into refining and reopening a bustling Prebbleton favourite, hospitality veterans Murray and Melissa Smith feel incredibly grateful.
Sorely missed during its three-year-long closure and refurbishment, The Bridge welcomed Prebbleton locals and keen visitors when it opened its doors again.
“What a year it has been,” says co-owner Melissa Smith. “From carefully curating an exceptional team to creating something Prebbleton truly needed, the journey has been nothing short of rewarding.”
The Bridge has quickly become a local favourite. While comfortable, relaxed, and family-friendly, with a tempting menu and Monteith’s on tap, it’s also perfectly suited to work meetings, birthdays, first dates, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day treats, after-touch drinks and even moments of quiet reflection. “We’ve loved watching it naturally evolve into a space where memories are made, conversations flow and people feel at home,” Melissa says.

“Our vision from the beginning was to create something more than just a typical suburban restaurant and bar. We wanted to strike the balance between familiarity and freshness – offering local favourites alongside thoughtful touches that elevate the experience without losing that easy, neighbourhood feel,” reflect both Melissa and Murray.
Community has always been at the heart of their ethos. “Over the past year, we’ve hosted a range of unique events that have been embraced by locals and visitors alike, and we’re only just getting started. With many more events, ideas and experiences planned for the year ahead, we’re excited about what’s to come.”

Thankful for community support, the pair can’t wait for what 2026 brings – inviting cherished regulars and newcomers to a taste of Prebbleton.
