The best for your bachelorette

Sophisticated or mischievous, and with so many layers of joy, planning a bridal shower or hen’s party is an exhilarating, and expensive, honour.

However you decide to do it, Metropol interviewee Mary Outram, with many bachelorette parties up her sleeve, shares three tips and tricks on making it the ultimate memory.

Start with visuals: put together a mood board ahead of the day or weekend, a great form of manifestation and visual planning. Use Pinterest or a corkboard, and search for imagery that illustrates the energy you hope the day has. Put the ideas in your head on paper, from colour schemes, to activities, accessories, outfits, and eats.

Add a theme: lift the celebrations by incorporating a fun theme, keeping it laid back or with complete enthusiasm. Dress up as things the bride or groom love, such as their favourite singer or food. For an easier theme, choose one colour to spotlight, or one accessory such as fun hats.

Follow a budget: before you dive into organising the festivities, draft up a budget. Don’t neglect even the smallest costs, including everything from bridal expenses, decorations, and invitations, to travel, eats, and entertainment, and a buffer for unseen last-minute expenses.
