Superior luxury design: Dunlop Builders
Architectural luxury meets ‘Passive High Performance’ in this innovative building company.
Outside of France, only one office building is awarded the internationally recognised Passive House Plus certification. That office building just happens to be the Hub of Wānaka-based building company
Dunlop Builders. “We have achieved the highest standards for sustainable design and energy efficiency,” says owner Bryce Dunlop. “We are New Zealand’s first Passive House Plus certified office.”
The Hub features a range of building enhancements including timber portals and structures for warmth and craftsmanship. There are timber triple-glazed German-designed and New Zealand made windows from Thermadura, plus cork flooring, solar panels, provisions for electric vehicle charging, and extensive use of Abodo NZ thermally modified pine timber.
The award-winning organisation was founded by third generation builder Bryce Dunlop in 2003. Dunlop Builders specialises in high-quality craftsmanship and beautiful architectural homes. Their homes are a visual integration of the company-wide ethos of mastery, responsibility, reputation, and home.
“Working in our Passive House Plus office for the past several months has only strengthened our conviction in the decision to pursue this pathway. It’s truly gratifying to experience first-hand the benefits of being in a high-performing, energy-efficient, and superbly ventilated building. The exceptional air quality and comfortable indoor environment have made a significant positive impact on our team’s well-being and productivity,” says Bryce.
Renowned in the south with luxury homes winning national awards, the team won the Site Safe Mental Health and Wellbeing Award in 2021. They are now keen to bring their ethos to architects and customers throughout New Zealand. “As builders who value sustainability, we believe constructing environmentally responsible buildings is undeniably the way forward.
We are thrilled to lead by example, and hope to inspire more businesses to embrace the principles of Passive House, and create spaces that prioritise people, the environment, and a better future.”
