BLOOM in the city.
BLOOM, the city’s spring festival of events, fashion, sport and music will breathe colour and vibrancy into Ōtautahi Christchurch.
Our city is at its most beautiful in spring and BLOOM highlights the lively streets, events and hospitality scene to showcase the city, attract visitors and stimulate spending.
BLOOM is held over the spring shoulder season, from September to November, to help bolster what can be a very challenging period – especially for retail and hospitality businesses.
Overall, the economy has performed well this year. Despite the loss of international visitors, we’ve seen increased spending from residents and domestic visitors and strong economic confidence.
But recovery has been uneven across sectors and the volume of visitors is down significantly on previous years.
Now is the perfect time to invite your whānau and friends to visit, stay a few nights and take part in BLOOM.
From the iconic Riccarton Park and Addington Cup Weeks or New Zealand Agricultural Show, to epic tunes at Synthony, to Days of Ice which celebrates our Antarctic connections, to SCAPE Public Art with its quirky and cool creations – BLOOM will pack your calendar with things to do and see.
And then there is the city’s newest major event – The South Island Moon Festival which will be a light, food and music-filled celebration of Chinese and East Asian cultures centered around the notion of bringing family and friends together.
Come along and experience our brilliant little city in full BLOOM-mode.
