That’s exactly the approach that Manpreet Singh and his team have taken at Oxford’s Black Beech Wine and Pizza Bar. This little gem is a North Canterbury favourite where fresh, locally sourced produce, artisanal cheeses, and organic options are available seven days a week.
“We are so lucky to have acquired Black Beech which is a much-loved home away from home for so many, and a wonderful discovery for others passing through,” says Manpreet. “We are keeping everything the same for now, right down to our live music nights and quiz nights.” Knowing a wonderful thing when they see it, they are maintaining the menus too. The pizza range pays homage to the wonderful setting with evocative names like Mt Somers, Mt Storm, Mt Valient, and Foggy Peak.
A children’s menu, lighter bites, and desserts cater to all tastes. “Our smoked lamb and venison salami pizzas have won national awards,” says Manpreet. “I actually can’t go past the venison pizza myself.”
