Print this story

Celebrate all things wild, weird and wonderful when Hokitika comes alive on Saturday 14 March, 2026, with the legendary Wildfoods Festival.

This iconic West Coast event continues to draw thousands of adventurous foodies, music lovers, and partygoers from across Aotearoa and beyond.

Whether you’re brave enough to try a huhu grub or mountain oyster, or prefer something far more familiar like Hungarian fried bread and freshly cooked whitebait patties, the festival is a feast for every taste bud and every level of daring. Expect plenty of surprises from local and visiting stallholders, with flavours ranging from the outrageous to the simply delicious.

Headlining the festival is Sir Dave Dobbyn, joined by other entertainers Tadpole, Sonar Flare and The Lady Killers with special guest Annie Crummer.

No Wildfoods Festival would be complete without the ‘Feral Fashion Show’, the outrageous, creative, and utterly unmissable celebration of style gone wild. From possum pelts to paua shells, feathers to foliage, festivalgoers are encouraged to strut their stuff and showcase their wildest looks.

With its unbeatable mix of wild cuisine, world-class music, and untamed West Coast charm, the Wildfoods Festival is one of New Zealand’s most iconic events. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned Wildfoods warrior, Hokitika is the place to be on Saturday 14 March 2026.
