When quality does matter: DGI Morgan

You might think a building company that offers an incredible spectrum of services, with sister businesses in glass and glazing, and steel and fabrication, would not be particularly interested in bespoke home building and traditional craftsmanship. Its focus would be spec home building, cookie cutter style, and liberal use of the nail gun, right?

Wrong! There is a building company that can offer a huge range of services in a truly one-stop shop way, but which places traditional craftsmanship at the heart of every project.

DGI Morgan Ltd not only brings the traditional can-do approach, but Director David Morgan is also a shipwright and boatbuilder by training. “I’m all about quality work, detailing, and high-end finishes,” says David.

With carpenters ranging in age from 22 – 67, versatility and in-house training is intrinsic to the company and evidenced by the sheer range of recent projects. A three-year staged renovation project began with demolition and replacement of outbuildings and was completed with the replacement of all bathrooms inside the home.

“The home is a Warren and Mahoney-styled concrete veneer house, and we built so as to completely match that,” says David.

A new build 1000 square metre North Canterbury home in stone and masonry, the full renovation of a home in Hornby, and six architecturally designed relocatable pods under construction at their base at Rangiora to be trucked inland to their forest site, are just a few recent examples.

“Our portfolio includes residential and architectural new builds, alterations and renovations, design and planning, project management, commercial construction and maintenance, high-end interior fitouts, custom timber joinery and insurance work. No job is too big or too small for the teams, and they are available for emergency call-outs too.”
