Ways to wed

To say ‘I do’ in a church, a civil ceremony, in front of a celebrant, or in a foreign country?

ELOPEMENT

Intimate, and with the opportunity to focus on specific moments, eloping can eliminate stress and planning, combining it with a beautiful getaway. While it limits the guest list, eloping can still incorporate traditions and wishes, with the memories kept to be shared later on with family and friends through photo and film.

For Mary and her husband Mike, eloping after a beautiful holiday in Europe was the perfect choice. “I’ve always wanted to elope; there’s something so romantic about it. I loved that it made the day purely about what matters most—two people committing to be together and support each other through life, no matter what,”
Mary says.

CIVIL
Civil ceremonies are far less personalised and unique, and often cannot include religion. These ceremonies are typically restricted, however, to a certain approach in style and content, with standard vows. Quicker, and with fewer variables to plan and organise, this can be an easier, stress-free approach to your wedding day.

CHURCH
A popular and traditional choice, church weddings involve religion and an opportunity to celebrate your nuptials in a place of worship that aligns with you. These ceremonies often include prayers and bible readings, alongside other personal touches that you choose. It is important to find balance in a church ceremony, especially if your partner doesn’t share the same religion.

CELEBRANT

Celebrants can design and mould a wedding to reflect the exact wishes of the couple through understanding and creating rapport, which is why this option is becoming increasingly popular. With no restrictions, celebrants can customise and organise your day in the best way to suit your preferences, at the location or venue of your choosing. Include traditions or lack thereof, meaningful moments with guests, and personalised touches that can be tricky to include in church or civil nuptials.
