Wall styling: Perfect Patterns

Harness the timeless style of wallpaper to transform your home and express your personality.

“Many people love the idea of wallpaper but just don’t know where to start. That’s the problem I’m here to fix,” says wall stylist Janis McDonald and founder of Perfect Patterns.

Formerly of Hubbers Furnishings and with more than 15 years of expertise in wallpaper and interiors, Janis recently started her own business to offer bespoke wallpaper solutions. “Wallpaper isn’t another trend trap,” Janis says. “It’s timeless, expressive, and deeply individual as well as one of the most powerful ways to refresh and highlight a space without the cost or disruption of a full renovation.”

A single wall, a personal room, an entire lounge, a feature wall, or maybe just a quiet corner can become extraordinary with the right pattern. Janis says that you don’t need to be brave everywhere; you just need the right wallpaper in the right place. “That’s where the magic happens.”

As well as guiding people to the right decisions, Janis steers clients away from the most common mistakes. “Small, busy patterns in large rooms look fussy, while oversized prints in tiny spaces can feel overwhelming. Scale mismatch is probably the number one regret. Also skipping wall prep, not considering lighting and furnishings, and matching wallpaper too perfectly… these are all traps I help people avoid.” To book a free 30-minute consultation with Janis during February and March, call 027 289 1509.
