Very Velvet

In 2019 we’re crushing on the lush fabric of velvet: this versatile fabric induces sumptuousness, warmth and elegance, and lends itself well to both minimalist and maximalist interiors. So how do we incorporate this beloved fabric into our home?

A simplistic style sofa in a rich colour is that luxury lounging staple you’ve been looking for, while an upholstered headboard in jewel-toned velvet will add a touch of sophistication to any boudoir. If in doubt, start with a plethora of small accents like lampshades, stools and plush cushions and throws.

Consider mixing and matching for contrast; other textural fabrics like wool and linen work well, or opt for a softer colour palette of greys, dusky pinks and duck egg blues.

Plush pieces in glorious stand-out colours like emerald green, mustard and peach make for statement additions to more minimalist living spaces, but maximalism is in – so don’t be afraid to go all out!
