Trailblazers in Indian cuisine: MG Road Eatery

The 2020’s feature self-care, and that’s a lot about what we put in our bodies. The challenge is to remove the tricky additions that we love but don’t love us back yet retain the zingy and authentic flavours that give taste buds a fabulous workout too.

If eating clean is important, the great news is you don’t have to abandon your favourite Indian foods. “At MG Road Eatery our dishes are as close to authentic Indian cooking as you will find,” says owner Thomas Kurian. “We use no MSG, no added colouring, and almost no cream.”

Whether you are a purist seeking true Indian fare, have a young family seeking a tasty, nourishing treat, or need quality dining on a budget, the team has got you. There are fortnightly specials on the website, “We have just added biryani, and we have our popular Sunday Buffet which we post on Facebook,” says Thomas.

MG Road is also Christchurch sweet lovers’ best-kept secret. The talented team creates a range of delicious desserts and special occasion cakes for in-house or to-go. Open Tuesday – Sunday 11.30 until 8.30pm, a meal in or taken away will be the week’s culinary highlight.

Host your next function, corporate get-together or party with MG Road Eatery, catering for up to 120 guests.
