Torque Talk: Going topless

“Summer breeze, makes me feel fine.”

What springs to mind when we think of that iconic lyric from Seals and Crofts’  Summer Breeze song?

For me, it’s a summer drive with the top down and not a care in the world. How often, however, do those with a convertible car actually go topless? It seems to be a common thing in Canterbury. Even on the most picturesque, warm summer day, or evening, that high-end convertible in the lane next to you has its folding metal roof or canvas top fixed firmly in place.

Sometimes, you may just want to have the über coolness of your aircon blasting at full chat and fair enough. Surely, however, the whole point of owning a convertible, or cabriolet, is the ability to drop the top and experience the warm wind rushing through your hair?

That’s a philosophy I subscribe to. Unless it’s pouring down, put the roof down. You have a soft top, so enjoy it as much as possible.
