The sparkle of festive season: Isaac Theatre Royal
As Gloucester Street glows with festive lights, it homes one historic, storied stage which becomes a vibrant canvas for music, dance, and storytelling that captures the warmth and wonder of Christmas.
The Isaac Theatre Royal welcomes audiences into a season of live performance and holiday enchantment. It all begins with TINA – The Ultimate Tribute to the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll on
29 November. Spanning decades of iconic hits – from Proud Mary to What’s Love Got to Do With It – the production blends dynamic vocals with spirited choreography, offering a vibrant homage to one of music’s most enduring figures. The festive mood continues on 30 November with A Celtic Christmas by A Taste of Ireland. Traditional carols, Irish melodies, and gentle narratives are woven together for an evening steeped in nostalgia and seasonal charm, reflecting the communal joy at the heart of Christmas.

For younger audiences and the young at heart, 7 December brings Cinderella from Convergence Dance Studios. Playful design, inventive choreography, and whimsical storytelling refresh the classic fairytale, offering moments of theatrical magic that linger long after the final bow.
The season reaches its finale on 13 December with the Southern Ballet Theatre 50th Anniversary Gala. This milestone double-bill celebrates decades of artistry and dedication, honouring both the performers onstage and the community that has supported live dance and theatre in Christchurch for generations.

Beyond the performances, the theatre itself enchants. Its restored Edwardian architecture, lively foyers, and palpable sense of anticipation make every visit special. Whether it’s your first time stepping through its doors or a cherished annual tradition, the Isaac Theatre Royal offers a festive season that resonates long after the lights come down.

From powerhouse performances to whimsical ballet, you’ll make all your favourite memories this festive season at the Isaac Theatre Royal. Best of all, you’ll be reminded why live theatre continues to captivate, inspire, and connect us all.
