The joy of reading: Page and post bookshop

Bookshops are places of discovery and escape. There’s nothing quite like the thrill you get when you find the book you really want to read.

W alking into a bookshop feels like coming home because there’s an inexplicable warmth to these shops. The Page and Post Booksellers in Geraldine is a classic bookshop and is the fulfilment of a dream for owner Belinda Roberts.

“I’m passionate about all styles and genres of books,” says Belinda, “and for giving our customers different experiences linked to books and reading.”
The bookshop welcomes authors to come and speak about their writings. On 23 November from 7pm poets Michael Harlow and Annie Villiers will read from their works. Harlow, known as a distinguished and serious writer, has published 12 poetry collections. Villiers has published two poetry volumes inspired by the landscape of the South Island.

“Before the event at our store we are going offsite on 24 October to collaborate with another business in Geraldine – The Record Keeper. This will be an evening all about Kate Bush – hearing her music and studying her lyrics. Light refreshments will be included at both these upcoming events.”

The Page and Post Booksellers further enhances customers’ exposure to literature by running two book clubs as well as hosting literary seminars. “People just love exploring unusual books in depth and we are delighted to help them do this.”
