Christchurch is the capital of cool and Show Week is all set to go off with a bang.

It’s been great to hit the ground running in the new Council term. We’re cracking straight into work on the Annual Plan, looking for as many ways as we can to get the rates down.

My focus for the next three years is going to be on getting the basics right, making sure residents and businesses thrive, ensuring people can get around the city quickly and safely, and exploring new ways to reduce our carbon footprint.

We’re also going to be building on the momentum we’re seeing in Christchurch.

The countdown is on to the opening of One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha – the roof is on, the seating bowl is looking fantastic, and the landscaping works are coming along. The city is absolutely buzzing – we’re the capital of cool, and this year’s events calendar is jam-packed with ways you can see it for yourself, starting with a bang for Show Week. See you out there.
