Expand your indoor living!: Louvre Solutions

Spring is in the air! The days are finally getting longer, the air is fresh and clean, and new beginnings abound.

Hello spring! We welcome your arrival and look forward to comfortably basking in the great outdoors once again. Spring just can’t help but bring fresh starts, clean closets and a renewed excitement about life and what it has in store. The timing couldn’t be better to expand your indoor living into the great outdoors. Louvre Solutions can create a custom space that suits your individual needs with a rain-censored louvre roof, complete with options such as pull-down side screens, LED lighting and heat lamps.

Entertaining at home has never been easier and Canterbury-based Louvre Solutions, owned and operated by Craig Rogers, knows how to create the perfect outdoor space. Whether entertaining, relaxing, or simply expanding your indoor area, Louvre Solutions can bring your ultimate outdoor environment to fruition. The louvres move at your command to allow full sunshine, to filter shade or to provide solid rain protection.

Louvre Solutions’ louvre systems are manufactured with quality elements, precision engineering and aesthetic options to realise your vision of the ultimate outdoor space. The patio louvre system is strong and conforms to all wind and snow load requirements. The louvres integrate flawlessly into any architectural style. Louvre Solutions manufactures its louvres from extruded aluminium which offers greater durability than traditional patio covers. Unlike plastic or fabric, these components will outperform in heat, wind and rain.

“When we started out, these premium products were prohibitively expensive and reserved for the elite. Even with ongoing improvements and advancements in technology to our products, we are able to offer Louvre Solutions at an affordable price to a wider market. We are now able to be accessible to markets from entry-level properties to very high-end spec homes,” Craig explains.

The benefits of a louvre roof are many, ranging from aesthetics to practicality. They are a brilliant addition to homes and can be proactively planned as part of the design/build process or retrofitted once the need is identified post- construction.
With more than 14 years in the industry, Louvre Solutions’ reputation has been built on a solid foundation. Craig and his team pride themselves on their burgeoning portfolio of repeat and referred business generated through word of mouth, independent builders, architects, landscape architects and building companies.

Louvre Solutions manufactures its products at its Canterbury-based factory. A louvre roof can be ready for installation within four to six weeks, making today the perfect time to order yours to ensure spring outdoor enjoyment and intelligent preparation for summer.

Louvres to love: Stratco

Let’s face it, we Kiwis love our indoor/outdoor flow. Whether morning, noon or night, if we can rest up and relax with a book, or chill with friends in the privacy of our own lovely green space, we feel pretty content.

But the best way to appreciate our outdoor havens is to be able to have some control over the capricious whims of Mother Nature; we don’t want to be scorched while reclining on our sun-loungers, but neither do we want to be drenched!

Stratco specialises in delivering state-of-the-art shelter solutions, such as fixed verandas, pergolas, electronic louvres and sunroofs, that enhance your outdoor experience in order to give you and your family extended months enjoying it.

Ian Rae, Outdoor Product Support for Stratco, says their clients are assured of a fully consulted job from start to finish. “We can do an initial consultation over the phone, then arrange a free visit to the site to look at the area the client wants covered and what they are trying to achieve. Following the site inspection an accurate quote goes to the client, generally within a few days. It takes around four weeks from confirmation to actual on-site work commencing,” Ian says.

The Stratco Allure systems’ frame and louvre blades are constructed from specially designed aluminium extrusions to meet with New Zealand’s stringent building code, and all hardware componentry is manufactured to their unique design specifications.

The fabrication and powder coating of all components is carried out in their Christchurch-based factory, prior to transporting to site for installation by Stratco’s highly skilled professional installation team.

Because each system is fabricated to order, this ensures versatility for the homeowner (or designer/architect for a new build) to choose whatever colours, size and shape they desire to match the overall design approach.

The unique control system is composed of a Danish-designed silent LINAK push/pull hydraulic motor running through a centralised automation control unit. The whole system is simply operated using either of the two remote controls. A standard inclusion in the Stratco Allure package is an Italian-designed Rain Sensor, which closes the louvres when rain falls, thereby keeping outdoor furniture dry.

To keep the unit aesthetically pleasing, the entire motor/control system is hidden from view; add in the perfect matching of colour of frame, the operating componentry and surface interface, and the entire unit feels, and looks, totally seamless.

“The beauty with louvres is that you get 100 percent control of light throughout summer and winter; especially in winter, when you want that maximum heat to come through,” Ian says, “And the remote control is very easy to use – no mucking around with an umbrella!”
