Sweet tooth

Food is getting sweeter, and New Zealander’s are becoming more aware of their sugar intake.

Luckily, if there is any time to write off the guilt and extra calories, it is the silly season. What we can do though, is manage our portions by utilising gorgeous-looking bite-sized treats.

Hosting, visiting, and every catch-up in between, social exhaustion looms – even if we don’t want it to.

In-abundance fruits and berries such as peaches, nectarines, plums, watermelon, raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries invite colour and satisfy the sweet tooth, for the most part. Add them into or atop cakes and crumbles, or infuse ice blocks and ice cubes for a scorching day and refined drinks offering.

Local kitchen retailers offer multiple ice cube moulds to be filled with fruits and berries, just make sure each cube will match the drink you plan to make. Slip long cubes into highball glasses or place one large cube into a tumbler, and enjoy.
