Superbly crafted joinery: Joinery by Design
Attention to detail inside and out, and quality craftsmanship, created an award-winning Christchurch home. 
This Avonside Drive build was in the Top 100 of the 2022 Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards, and overall winner in the annual awards Canterbury Regional category for the $2m to $4m new homes. Instrumental in that win was local company, Joinery by Design.
From small beginnings, Joinery by Design has crafted a reputation for customer satisfaction and including personal touches that make each project unique.
The team at Joinery by Design run a modern, computerised factory where traditional skills are still a part of their everyday lives. “We are not mass producers of kitchen cabinetry but produce quality, built to measure kitchens as well as windows, doors, stairs, wardrobes and feature joinery,” they say.
The company crafted the joinery for the John Garlick Builder’s Avonside Drive project, including the feature stairs, bathroom and kitchen elements. The project site and design angles often meant working onsite to implement the customised detailing.
Award judges complimented the workmanship of the building, comparing it to a work of art.
They found “beauty and bespoke detail wherever you look – the angles of the rooms, the fittings, geometric facets of the kitchen island, Gaboon plywood panels.”
