Steve’s scene
Your women-who-rock-roundup from global music consultant and Dolly Parton’s local publicist, Steve Guest.
Y ou can say you were there (if you were) at Lainey Wilson’s simply fantastic show at Wolfbrook Arena in February. She is pure country rock and such a delight. Lainey loved New Zealand – she managed to check out Christchurch, Akaroa, and sample our delicious wines while visiting.
Deacon Blue, supported by our own Steffany Beck, played their first ever South Island show at the James Hay Theatre, and it was sublime. They put the iconic Christchurch Tram to the test, and gained a sneak preview into the brand-new Britten Museum. They loved every minute.

A shout out, too, to Team Event. It was my first time at Nostalgia Festival within The Ferrymead Heritage Park and it did not disappoint – especially Tami Neilson. Keep an eye out for a young girl band called Supa who we loved. I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about them soon.
My daughter and friends went to see Lorde rock out the sold-out Wolfbrook Arena and were on cloud nine afterwards.
Sisters are doing it for themselves. Keep it up ladies.
