Soothe a sunburn


Being sun smart should always be top of mind this summer.

For the dreaded day when you forget your sunscreen or are lulled into a false sense of security by overcast weather, here are some tips on how to soothe the pain and speed up the healing process:

  • Apply an aloe vera gel, keeping this in the refrigerator will add to its benefits.
  • Cool the skin with a towel dampened with cold water.
  • Take a pain reliever.
  • Soak in a cool bath
  • Drink extra water to prevent dehydration.
  • Use moisturiser before your skin starts peeling.

Make sure to seek medical attention if blisters cover a large area or you’re experiencing symptoms of dehydration, extreme pain, nausea, chills or headache.
