Filled with wonderful flavours and colours, Filipino food is known for crafting dining experiences that delight the senses.

Christchurch is lucky enough to host an authentic restaurant – one that began as a family-run labour of love. Today, it has expanded to bring the joy of this cuisine to those who enjoy soul food.

Established in Dunedin in 2016, Manila Grill Restaurant was a humble dream brought to life by a family passionate about hospitality. “We had a dream of sharing the rich flavours of Filipino and Japanese cuisine with our new community,” says co-owner Mary Anne Duran. “What started as a small, family eatery soon became a place where people feel at home.”

Having opened in Christchurch in 2019, the team cook with heart, serving traditional dishes like crispy pata, lechon kawali, kare-kare, and adobo meals that remind many of home, introducing others to a love for their culture. Every dish is a piece of their story, seasoned with memories, heritage, and a lot of love.

“We don’t just serve food, we’re sharing culture, connection, and comfort, one plate at a time. When you dine with us, you become part of our journey.”
