School holidays sorted: Jurassic Adventure
Dust yourself off Christchurch, it’s time to dig up fossils and forgotten putting skills for the city’s latest attraction. Cantabrians no longer need to travel for top-quality amusement.
Co-owner and designer of Jurassic Adventure, Aaron Keown, wanted to bring a theme park to Christchurch, for children who don’t get to experience the overseas parks. “I wanted to build more than just a mini golf course,” he says.
Now, Christchurch’s very own theme park has come to life, and so have the dinosaurs.
Pondering a theme, Aaron and his business partner Peter Gatonyi decided on dinos, filling Jurassic Adventure with life-sized animatronic dinosaurs of the exact scale and colour to the prehistorics.
The only entirely wheelchair accessible mini golf course in New Zealand, challenge yourself to 18-holes amongst the dinosaurs, or brave New Zealand’s only ride-on T-Rex. The Dino Dig can’t be found anywhere else but Florida, bringing world-class adventure to Christchurch. Becoming New Zealand’s first fully-themed maze, Jurassic Adventures’ latest attraction, Raptor Run, includes five raptors, bridges, crashed vehicles and a poachers camp. “It’s telling a story as you go,” says Aaron.
