Saddle up: By Chris Korako, Inspire Me Women

This Year of the Horse arrives at full gallop.

Late December left me with great sadness with the passing of a loved family member, then swept me away to sea-blue horizons. January followed with white-sand beaches and forests where the noise of the world faded to a hum. By late January, I had to muster my ‘work energy’ and shift my mindset from ocean blues to my desk. I won’t pretend it was easy, it took a while to recalibrate.

Yet, there I was ready to take on the year, if not the world. Just as I found my stride, the flu intervened.

One moment I was working on strategies, the next I was propped up in bed with a foggy head and aching body. Still, I have learned that even on the off days, completing one small, purposeful task is its own kind of momentum. Add lemon and honey, ginger and garlic, plenty of fluids (strictly non-fermented grape varieties), and recovery becomes a quiet ritual.

Despite the uncertainty in the world I have a good feeling about this year. A sense that progress will come through kindness, courage, resilience and forward motion. This is a year where much can be achieved, both personally and collectively. Don’t put things off, tick them off.

I am the year of the Tiger (Taurus). I think both sum me up well. This year my focus is on a dynamic, productive year for myself, my family and friends.

If you haven’t already thought about your year ahead and what you really want to achieve, give it a go.

Saddle up my friends and enjoy the Year of the Horse.
