Relax, unwind, and enjoy the holiday season

Voltaire once wrote: “I’ve decided to be happy because it is good for my health.” The French writer and philosopher is long gone, yet his sentiments have echoed down through the ages, arguably as relevant today as they were in the 1700s.

The holiday season has arrived, and for many it’s a well-earned time to relax, take a break, and be happy. Exactly what happiness is defies a simple explanation because it means different things to different people.

I know, however that happiness is often infectious, joy and laughter zinging from one person to the next like a pinball bouncing from bumper to bumper. It may bounce once, twice, even three times off one person, before pinging away to another, then another. Children’s laughter, for example, often makes people smile,
if only for a moment. Seeing other people relaxing and having a good time also spreads the vibe.

If nothing else these holidays, chill out, don’t let others get to you, and do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It’s not about money or work; it’s about taking time out, and appreciating what you do have; a day at the beach, a family get-together, relaxing with a copy of Metropol in your hands, or dreaming of what life could be.

Being happy is well documented as good for your health, so give it a go. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us at team Metropol.
