Summer is the season to be bold.

Mixing prints is less about rules and more about balance, contrast, and a bit of fun,” says the team at Kiwi retailer Zebrano. With styles from New Zealand, Australian, and international designers in sizes 14 plus, they know how to make prints work for every mood and moment – and share their top tips for summer trends.

1. Contrast is key
Pair a bold large-scale print with a smaller one to create harmony while keeping your look dynamic. Opposites attract, so try organic prints with geometrics or balance bold patterns with solid colours.

2. Connect through colour
Link prints through a shared hue, even one tone in common can tie two prints together. Black background prints look amazing with black basics, while white background prints pop when paired with white or a colour pulled from the print.

3. Complete the look
Earrings, necklaces, bangles, bags, shoes – there’s plenty of room to play. Highlight colours in your print, add structure with a plain blazer or denim jacket, and remember your hair and makeup are accessories too.
