The restaurants and bars around Christchurch truly love to put on a party at Cup Week. It’s a chance for them to show off a bit, and to create a great atmosphere for punters to simply enjoy the glamour of the occasion.
No.4 Bar, the neighbourhood gastro-pub in Merivale, is famous for its Cup Week activities. On NZ Trotting Cup Day itself, (Tuesday 14 November) they have a delicious Champagne breakfast package available with a best-dressed competition and live music. This is definitely the place to be seen on Cup Day – and there is a bus lined up outside to take people to the races after breakfast. No parking hassles at Addington Racecourse.
There is another Champagne breakfast on Saturday 18 November for the thoroughbred cup racing at Riccarton. No.4 Bar just delights in being part of this Canterbury social highlight. Be sure to book early as the restaurant is always bustling during this week.
